Heads strengthened

REIGNING BFL premier Barwon Heads has been further strengthened with the addition of Lachlan Wilson from suburban Melbourne.

Wilson, 24, arrives from Eastern league club Lilydale, where he played 88 games and kicked 104 goals as well as captaining the club from 2017.

Barwon Heads says Wilson, who is a former teammate of current Seagull Ryan Harvey, “is a small quick forward who can push up into the midfield and thrives on applying pressure in the forward half and loves to tackle”.

Wilson found his way to Barwon Heads after moving to Ocean Grove with his partner Jemma in the middle of last year.

“It is great that Willo has signed on for this season at Barwon Heads,” football boss Brendan Curry said in a statement on Facebook.

“It was a tough call for him to leave a club he was captain of and has played his whole career with.

“Also, his dad is their Football Director, but him (sic) and Jemma have loved their time on the Bellarine, and he is excited to become a Seagull.

“Willo has shown us at training during pre-season that he will become an exciting player for our club.”

Barwon Heads starts its belated premiership defence on Easter Saturday with a home game against Drysdale.
