BARWON Heads will welcome back up to six first-choice players as it looks to use Saturday’s final round clash with Newcomb as a dress rehearsal for its second semi-final on August 25.

Playing coach Mitch Herbison, Mark Corrigan, Otto Opperman, Ed Mitchell, Sam Evans and Damian Horbury are set to return after missing last week’s loss to Modewarre – just the Seagulls’ second defeat of the season.

“We’ll be looking to put as a good of a side as we can on the park this week and use it as a good opportunity to try a few things and play four quarters of good solid footy,” Herbison said.

“The boys were disappointed (with the loss to Modewarre). We clearly didn’t bring the intensity that was required to win on Saturday and Modewarre were sensational.

“That gave us a bit of benchmark of the level of work we’ve got to bring each Saturday.”

In more good news for Barwon Heads, Corrigan looks set to be right for the second semi-final.

With Round 23 only fixtured last week, the Seagulls were unsure of when the Bombers would play against Port Adelaide.

However, in an almost ideal result, they’ve been fixtured for Adelaide Oval on Friday night.

“That should be a good result,” Herbison said. “Hopefully there’s a flight back early Saturday morning.

“If things fall our way, ‘Harry’ should be good to go.”
