PORTARLINGTON has landed one of the biggest signings of the BFL off-season so far with the arrival of star St Joseph’s defender Daniel Measures.

Measures, who was a key player as Joeys claimed three premierships in four years, hinted his time at GFL level may be up after this year’s grand final win over St Mary’s.

“I don’t know whether I’ll come back or not,” he said in the aftermath of holding GFL leading goalkicker Aiden Grace goalless.

Originally from the Northern Territory, Measures is no stranger to the Bellarine, having played in Queenscliff’s hat-trick of premierships between 2011-13 before linking up with former Coutas coach Heath Jamieson at St Joseph’s.

It is understood both Queenscliff and Bannockburn spoke with the two-time Joeys’ best-and-fairest.

Portarlington has also announced the addition of Corio small forward Luke Priddle and the re-signing of Brett Morgan.

Measures is not the only recent big-name departure from the GFL.

Bell Park best-and-fairest Todd Stevenson has joined Essendon and District league club Keilor.

Stevenson was a star in a variety of positions for the Dragons. He represented both the GFL and Vic Country in 2018 and was named in the GFL Coaches Team of the Year.

And Leopold has lost speedster Nick Bourke to home club Kolora-Noorat in the Warrnambool and District competition.

The former Geelong rookie played 75 games for the Lions, including their maiden GFL grand final win over St Mary’s in 2016.

“I love the club, and I’m excited about coming back,” Bourke told the Warrnambool Standard.

“It will be great playing footy again with family and friends from back home.

“I’ve got cousins who are at different stages of their footy careers, some starting off, some moving towards the end.

“The club has a lot of really good young players coming through, so I’m looking forward to working with them and helping with their development.”
