AFTER 18 months turning around Portarlington’s off-field fortunes, the club’s first female president has stepped down from the role.
In a surprise move, Linda Shaw, who took on the role following the resignation of Andrew Aquilina due to work commitments in April 2019, didn’t seek reelection at the Demons’ AGM on Sunday morning.
Shaw said in a statement on Portarlington’s Facebook page that she was leaving the role with a “heavy heart”.
“Being the first female president has been an honour and a privilege and I hope this helps in some small way to encourage more females to take up roles within a sporting club environment,” she wrote.
