GOOD Friday will now feature two Bellarine league matches, with confirmation Portarlington and Newcomb will clash at Ron Evans Oval.

The Demons and Power join Torquay and Modewarre in playing on April 19, with the Tigers and Warriors breaking new ground with their 2018 meeting at McCartney Oval the first BFL match to be played in the Christian holy day.

“On behalf of the Portarlington Demons Football Netball Club, I would like to take the opportunity to thank both AFL Barwon and the Commission for allowing the games to be moved from the initial fixtured dated,” Demons spokesman Andrew Aquilina said.

“To Damien (Mahoney) and the Newcomb Football Netball Club, who have been supportive of the concept since the very first discussion, which in turn gave us the ability to approach Will (McGregor) and Michael (Limb) at AFL Barwon.

“Hopefully we can put on a great day of local football and netball for our dedicated members, sponsors and supporters as well as a huge number of visitors to our great town over the Easter weekend.”

The Demons say they are planning some fundraising initiatives to support the annual Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

The match starts at the traditional time of 2:10pm, with the Torquay-Modewarre match scheduled for a 5:10pm bounce.
