FORMER Queenscliff captain Jake Hedley looks set for a premature end to the BFL season after being offered a one-week suspension by the AFL Barwon Match Review Panel.

Following a request from the officiating umpires after Saturday’s loss to Modewarre, the veteran defender was charged by the MRP with rough conduct after making late high contact on Warrior Brett Blair during the third quarter.

If Hedley accepts the ban, he will miss the Coutas’ final round meeting with Torquay.

GFL: SEASON SHORTENED

Drysdale’s Jake Hargreaves, Newcomb’s Joel Geue and Newtown & Chilwell’s Jai Sheahan have also been offered bans.

Hargreaves can accept a one-week suspension after being reported by the umpire for striking Ocean Grove’s Fletcher Keck in the third quarter of Saturday’s loss at Mortimer Oval.

Geue faces a delayed start to 2022 after being offered a two-week sanction for striking Barwon Heads youngster Sam Witherden in the opening term of the defeat by the Seagulls.

And Sheahan, who kicked his 200th goal in the Eagles’ win over Grovedale at Elderslie Reserve, will miss this week’s meeting with Lara after being offered a one-week suspension for striking Tiger Brady Campi.

The charge followed a request from Grovedale for the MRP to look at the vision of the incident.

Hedley, Geue, Hargreaves and Sheahan have until 10am Tuesday to challenge their bans at the AFL Barwon Tribunal.

Meanwhile, North Shore and St Albans have been fined $250 following a melee during the first quarter of the clash at Windsor Park.
