GEELONG captain Joel Selwood’s Brownlow Medal hopes remain alive after escaping with a $1000 fine for rough conduct on West Coast veteran Sam Mitchell in Thursday night’s loss at Domain Stadium.

It means he is free to play in Sunday’s clash with Fremantle at Simonds Stadium.

SCOOTER SET FOR STINT ON SIDELINES

Mitchell has been cleared of any wrongdoing for his retaliation on Selwood.

In reaching its finding, the Match Review Panel said the “action was not a striking motion and there was insufficient high contact for a report to be laid.”

Meanwhile, Eagle Luke Shuey is also facing a $1000 fine for rough conduct on Cats star Patrick Dangerfield.
