At Selection – Round 8

GEELONG has named uncapped trio Brad Close, Nathan Krueger and Ben Jarvis on an extended bench ahead of Monday night’s clash with Fremantle at Optus Stadium.

The Cats have also named Charlie Constable, Lachie Fogarty and James Parsons on the eight-man bench, while Mitch Duncan and Tom Stewart both return from injury.

A foot injury will see Luke Dahlhaus join captain Joel Selwood (hamstring), Jordan Clark (shoulder) and Gary Ablett (personal) in going out of the team that lost to Collingwood last Thursday.

Originally from North Gambier, Close joined Geelong via the Rookie Draft late last year from SANFL club Glenelg.

Krueger and Jarvis both arrived at GMHBA Stadium in 2018, also from South Australia.

Krueger, a key forward, was picked up after the Cats traded a pick in that year’s National Draft for Carlton’s special assistance selection.

Jarvis landed at Geelong with pick No.48 in the National Draft.

If any of Constable, Fogarty or Parsons play, it will be their first game in 2020 at AFL level.

The Dockers will make at least one change, with speedster Stephen Hill missing through injury.

Brandon Matera, Connor Blakely, Mitch Crowden, Reece Conca and potential debutant Tobe Watson have been named on an extended bench.

K rock is live from 6pm Monday on FM 95.5 across Geelong and the Surf Coast, via AFL.com.au and the AFL app.
