YOUNG gun Olivia Purcell, impressive midfielder Julia Crockett-Grills and star defender Maddy McMahon are Geelong’s three nominations for the AFL Players’ Association’s MVP award.

19-year-old Purcell, who is the lone Cat in the 2020 All-Australian squad, was the club’s leading possession winner, averaging 20.2 disposals per game.

Crockett Grills was third behind Purcell and vice-captain Meg McDonald on 14.1 disposals per match. She also averaged close to four tackles a game.

McMahon, who missed almost 12 months of football through injury, produced another solid season following All-Australian squad selection in 2019.

Defender Maddy Keryk is Geelong’s nomination as Most Courageous, while Amy McDonald’s the Cats’ hope as Best First-Year Player.

Retired star Mel Hickey is a chance to be named Best Captain.

The AFLPA will announce award winners via social media on Monday.
