Narkle in no rush on new deal

Quinton Narkle starred in Geelong’s win over Gold Coast at GMHBA Stadium.

EMERGING Geelong midfielder Quinton Narkle isn’t getting too concerned about his football future despite being out of contract at the end of the 2021 season.

The 23-year-old produced the best performance of his career in the Cats’ win over Gold Coast at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday.

Narkle, who has managed just 22 games since being drafted with pick no.60 in 2016, finished with a career-high 34 disposals and eight marks in the 34-point victory.

“I haven’t really thought about it,” Narkle said on K rock Football when asked how talks with Geelong were progressing.

“I’m just trying to play the best footy I can, and that’s all I can do right now.”

Narkle says new manager Ralph Carr has been a key to his recent good form.

“He’s been super with me, helping me out,” Narkle said.

“He’s been the one really driving me to improve and be better – he’s just been fantastic so far.”
