Jones a finalist in Stynes award

JAMAINE Jones’ work in promoting the benefits of foster care has been recognised by the AFL with the Geelong rookie a finalist for the 2019 Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award.

A foster child himself before being adopted, Jones is an ambassador for Barwon Child, Youth & Family.

He has also contributed to the Cats’ Djilang Program, working alongside Traditional Land Owners and Aboriginal community members to encourage cultural connection for young people across the Barwon region.

Former Port Adelaide captain Travis Boak, GWS Giants star Steve Coniglio and Carlton AFLW player Jess Hosking are the other three finalists.

The Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award winner will be announced on Brownlow Medal night, September 23.
