Gregson placed on long-term injury list

GEELONG has placed Cory Gregson on the long-term injury list, further opening the door for uncapped rookie Zach Guthrie to make his AFL debut.
Gregson, who has been battling a foot issue that ended his 2016 season last July, had surgery in January to remove a screw that had been causing him issues.
The small forward will be on the long-term injury list until at least Round 8 as he continues his rehabilitation.
The Cats have yet to declare their hand on promoting Guthrie, who has rocketed into Round 1 contention on the back of two impressive JLT Community Series performances against Hawthorn and Adelaide.
He missed the win over Essendon with a minor knee issue, but did nothing wrong in the VFL practise match against the Bombers on Friday night.
