HIGHLY-regarded Geelong businessman Barry Fagg has been appointed to the Geelong board.

A lifelong Cats supporter, whose family business has been operating in the city since 1854, Fagg will fill the position on the board left vacant by president Colin Carter’s retirement at next month’s AGM.

“I have had a great love of the club since I was a child, and to be able to contribute now as a director is gratifying,” Fagg said.

“The club has enjoyed great success on and off the field for a long time, and I know that the directors, management, staff and all associated with our teams are committed to continuing that success.

“I will be looking to bring strong business acumen and deep community roots to the board as we forge ahead.”

Fagg, 69, has an impressive record of community service and is currently Treasurer of both the Geelong Art Gallery and Geelong College School Council, and Campaign Appeal Chair for Anam Cara House Geelong.

“Barry has a wonderful track record in both business and community service, and the club is fortunate to have added him to the board,” Carter said.

“Barry has been a passionate member and contributor to the club over many years. He will help the club’s board moving forward and has strong ties to local business and community leaders.”

The appointment of Fagg comes after confirmation last week that Craig Drummond will replace Carter as president.
