GEELONG has made three inclusions for Saturday’s blockbuster clash with Richmond at the MCG, but one isn’t Patrick Dangerfield.
The Cats say following consultation with medical staff, coaches, and Dangerfield, the star midfielder will undergo further high-intensity training before being available for selection.
He hasn’t played since the Round 10 win over Port Adelaide.
“While we had been confident that Patrick would play on Saturday, the coaches and medical team had earmarked making a final call after Wednesday’s main training session,” football boss Simon Lloyd said.
“And while he has again trained fully with the group, we will wait for the last signs of tightness to clear before he is available for selection.
“We have been open this season in our tailored approach to players returning from injury and will continue with this approach for the long-term benefit and preparation of the team.”
Carji Greeves medal runner-up Jack Henry, speedster Max Holmes and livewire forward Gary Rohan have been named to take on the Tigers.
Henry hasn’t played since the loss t Hawthorn on Easter Monday with a foot issue, Holmes was last seen against Fremantle where he suffered damage to his syndesmosis that required surgery, and Rohan missed the win over West under health and safety protocols.
Zach Guthrie has been listed as managed, while Cooper Stephens and Luke Dahlhaus have been dropped.
That trio and Shannon Neale are Geelong’s four emergencies, with one to be named as medi-sub.
