GEELONG will take on Carlton for AFLW premiership points at Ikon Park for the first time next Sunday.

The winless Cats have met the Blues once previously, with Geelong recording a five-point win in Round 4, 2019 at GMHBA Stadium.

It leaves Melbourne as the only Victorian-based team the Cats are yet to play.

Round 6 of the season will see the first-ever return home-and-away meeting in an AFLW season.

West Coast and Fremantle will clash at Optus Stadium as part of a double-header on March 7 with the Eagles and Dockers men’s teams, who will do battle in an AFL pre-season game.

When West Coast and Fremantle met in Round 2, COVID-19 restrictions resulted in the match being played behind closed doors.

“We will continue to remain adaptable as we listen to and work closely with each stakeholder to ensure
the best possible outcome for everyone in the game,” the AFL’s Head of Women’s Football Nicole Livingstone said.

“While COVID-19 continues to impact the community, the health and welfare of our players and the community remains the priority, and we remain committed to delivering a full season in a safe manner led by respective governments, public health officials and medical experts.

“The Round 6 fixture will see the league continue to best manage the risks around COVID by minimising travel where possible and ensuring minimal disruption for the competition as we navigate the 2021 season.”
