GEORGIE Prespakis has shown the AFLW captains who selected her to win the competition’s Rising Star award to so far be good judges after earning one of the opening round nominations.

The No.2 draft pick impressed on debut for Geelong as she accumulated 20 disposals to play a key role in the Cats’ making 2021 finalist North Melbourne work for an eight-point win.

Prespakis also had seven clearances and laid six tackles.

Ten of the competition’s 14 captains picked the 18-year-old to claim the honour when announced at the end of the season.

Prespakis, who started her football journey with Sunbury Lions and was drafted from the Calder Cannons, now has the chance to follow in the footsteps of sister Madi, who won the Rising Star with Carlton in 2019.

She is the fourth Geelong young gun to receive a Rising Star nomination since the club joined the competition in 2019, joining teammates Nina Morrison and Becky Webster and Cat-turned-Demon Olivia Purcell.

Kangaroo Mia King was the round’s other nomination.
