RETURNING superstar Gary Ablett will succeed close friend and multiple AFL premiership teammate Andrew Mackie in the No.4 jumper in his second stint as a Geelong player.

Before leaving to join Gold Coast in 2011, Ablett wore No.29 at the Cats, but that number now belongs to Cam Guthrie.

“Mack is a really close mate of mine – I’ve got a lot of respect for the person and the footballer he is and how he’s gone about his career,” said Ablett of Mackie, who retired at the end of the 2017 season after a 280-game career at the Cats.

The No.4 is one of the most famous numbers in Geelong’s history, having been worn by Mackie, Bob Davis, Terry Bright and Brownlow medallist Alistair Lord.

Six numbers were revealed in total.

Tim Kelly will wear the No.11 vacated by Darcy Lang’s trade to Carlton, Lachlan Fogarty will wear the No.13 previously worn by Tom Lonergan, and Charlie Constable will take over the No.18 Josh Cowan had for eight seasons.

Former Geelong Falcon Gryan Miers will go into the No.32 worn by Steven Motlop, while former Bulldog and Bomber Stewart Crameri will take the No.36 occupied for the last two years by Tom Ruggles.
