GEELONG looks set to welcome back veteran great Gary Ablett for Sunday’s must-win clash with Sydney at Metricon Stadium.

The 36-year-old rejoined the Cats for the first time this morning after his two-week stint in the AFL’s transition hub on the Gold Coast came to an end earlier today.

“All indications look pretty good at this stage (that he will play),” assistant coach Matthew Knights said.

“He trained really well and got through the session unscathed and moved really well.

“It looks really promising for Sunday’s game.”

Ablett, who hasn’t played since the loss to Collingwood on July 16, looks set to be joined by captain Joel Selwood.

The veteran skipper has been battling knee soreness, with his last appearance coming in the Round 12 win over Port Adelaide.
