VETERAN Carlton midfielder Marc Murphy has been cleared of serious injury after going down at training on Monday morning.

The former Blues skipper was taken off the training ground on a cart after suffering an ankle injury during a drill.

But scans on Monday afternoon confirmed only minor bruising to his foot, which will see him take on a modified training schedule for up to two weeks.

It’s welcome relief for Carlton’s plans heading into their first full-season under coach David Teague.

Young key forward Charlie Curnow still isn’t back into full training after he underwent surgery in November on a fractured right patella bone.

Big man Harry McKay is working his way back from a groin issue, while defender Caleb Marchbank will be eased back into training after missing the final seven games of last season with a neck injury.

Carlton co-captain Sam Docherty is on track to play against reigning premiers Richmond in round one after missing two seasons due to back-to-back anterior cruciate ligament tears.
