Bomber arrested and released

FORMER Geelong and Essenon coach Mark Thompson has been arrested and released without charge following an investigation into drug trafficking.

A Port Melbourne property belonging to Thompson, 54, was raided by police on Friday and he was arrested on Tuesday.

Police said a 54-year-old man was arrested “following an investigation into alleged drug trafficking in Port Melbourne”.

“The man has been released pending enquiries,” a police statement said on Tuesday.

The raid was captured in footage provided to Seven News, showing police storming the Rouse Street property.

“Police. Don’t move,” officers shout as they burst into the converted warehouse.

Thompson earlier denied his home had been raided when contacted by Fairfax Media.

His decorated AFL career includes winning three premierships playing for Essendon, where he played 202 games.
